La Miradora
Abierto Mexicano de Diseño 2016
Manufacture: LAINVENCIBLE.ORG
Downtown, Mexico city
2016
La Miradora is an ephemeral urban installation made for the Abierto Mexicano de Diseño in 2016. It was designed so as to invite people to interact with the piece to learn more about the city. It includes binoculars to contemplate specific parts of different buildings that have defined the centro histórico in Mexico City.
The installation wishes to evoke the festivals from Mexican towns, which offer entertainment and interaction options with very simple elements and promote our culture and bond with our origins. Its design conjures Mexico in the beginning of the century, its distinct traditions filled with colors and handcrafts.
It was a challenge to find an alternative that could prove with simple elements that, even nowadays, there are design solutions that do not necessarily depend on modern high technology.
As architectural sculpture,La Miradora invites you to observe the city and, through this way, narrates its history. Its images are accompanied by the sounds and smells from the very own centro histórico, completing the experience.
