With the intention of taking advantage of the privileged views from the rooftop of Nomad Living’s Toreo headquarters, it was proposed to add a rooftop area to the condominium’s amenities. Some of the main challenges of the project included working on the uneven base of the roof, designing a solution capable of withstanding climatic conditions, and ensuring safety at such height, as wind speeds can become quite strong. At the same time, it was necessary to consider user safety while concealing the existing machinery and equipment located on this level, without restricting access for maintenance personnel.

To address these challenges, we designed a platform that spans the entire space. This platform incorporates supports that perfectly level the surface. The circulation path is surrounded by visual buffers such as planters and slender railings, which help define a safe area and prevent accidents without compromising the panoramic views of the city. We avoided installing elements that could pose risks due to wind, such as fabric screens or umbrellas, opting instead for shading solutions that do not create a parachute effect. The structure is strong enough to fulfill its purpose, yet light enough to avoid compromising the roof’s structural integrity. The spatial layout also allows for multiple groups or gatherings to use the area simultaneously without sacrificing privacy. Thanks to movable furniture, the spaces can be adapted for multiple uses, making it possible to host not only meetings or barbecues, but also yoga classes, training sessions, or any outdoor activity desired.
